Creating a Wardrobe of Clothes on a Budget

Ways to have an affordable wardrobeClothing yourself and your family can be expensive; children in particular seem to grow out of shoes on a monthly basis and there’s never the perfect outfit in the wardrobe when you get that last minute wedding invitation.

To keep your wardrobe fresh and not break the bank and to give your children new clothes as they grow up but to not end up with an empty wallet, there are a number of fun and creative ways to be money-smart and fashion-savvy.

Swap party

A clothing swap party is a great money saver in more than one way. Ask all your friends to come round to your home one evening and for them to empty their wardrobe of all the items they no longer need. If you also ask them to make a food or dessert contribution, you can lay out a sumptuous buffet at very little cost to yourself. What’s more, it’s a great way to catch up with friends you’ve not seen for a while without the cost of meeting in an expensive restaurant, bar or club.

Play it clever on the online auction sites

Online auction sites have thousands of items of clothing available at any time. To get the best bargains, look out for listings which end when everyone else is asleep – there much less chance of other people outbidding you at the last minute. Also check out listings with only an hour left which have no bids – you’ll more than likely be the only bidder and there’s a number of apps available to help you to do this.

Clothes recycling

There are a number of groups online which offer items for free in a bid to increase the use of recycling. Register with your local groups and keep a look out for bundles of clothing. You’ll need to be quick off the mark though as the most generous offerings are usually snapped up within minutes of being listed.

It’s good to talk

Get chatting to other parents at the school gate and make friends. If they have children around the same age as yours or older, they will have the same situation as yourself and you can swap and donate clothing at the same time as develop a great friendship.

If you need to buy your children a new uniform or shoes for the start of a new term at school and you’ve had the unexpected expense – the car failing its MOT or an emergency home repair to pay for, money could be tight for a few weeks visit for info on payday loans online and read the reviews on the lenders who are able to offer you a short term financial solution.

Staying on-trend doesn’t mean spending hundreds every month on the newest designer clothing. Vintage is all the rage so shop until you drop in second hand stores and never pay full price by buying your clothes at outlet stores where you’ll pay a fraction of the original cost for items from last season. You’ll look a million dollars and turn heads wherever you go and you’ll know that you didn’t have to blow your finances to look so good.
