How To Keep Your Valuables Safe While On Your Upcoming Vacation

It is important to make sure that you are planning in advance for much more than just where you are going to go and the places that you are going to explore. While those are very important issues to address, you’ll also want to make sure that you are putting a lot of thought into what you are going to do with all of your valuables. Remember, you will be leaving the majority of your valuables at home and then taking a small portion of them with you. Therefore, you need protection for everything everywhere.

At Your Resort

If you have decided to book golf in Dubai, for example, you will want to call ahead to ask about their in-room safes. If they don’t have one, you’ll want to request a room that has one. Just remember, while you can bring your own small box safe, it is something that can be easily carried out of your suit, it might not be very good at protecting your precious items. Since most people like to keep things secure such as their keys, wallet, and jewelry, this is a very important part of your planning.

Should you find that the resort is not able to provide you with a suit that has a safe, you might want to look elsewhere. Those who have already made their reservations and are not able to get out of them can inquire about locking cabinets or dresser drawers. Take a close look at a picture of some of the cabinets and closets. Do any of them look as though you could use a combination lock on them? If so, bring your own lock and secure your valuables away in there and keep it closed at all times whenever you are not specifically looking to get something in or out of the closet.

At Home

As far as all of the things at home, you really cannot worry about trying to get everything that is valuable into a safe. That simply isn’t practical. However, there are still some things that you can do in order to keep your stuff nice and safe while you are away enjoying your vacation.

One thing to consider is to hire a house sitter. This could be someone that simply comes to your home every day at different times in order to check the mail, switch around which lights are on for the night, and to simply show others that the home has a presence in it, that the house is simply not sitting there empty for the entire length of time that you are gone. Another option would be to have the house sitter simply stay at your home the entire time that you are gone. This way, if there is anyone casing the neighborhood, they will notice that your home is occupied, which will deter them from wanting to enter it. After all, they would be most likely caught as soon as someone were to notice them.

If you are not able to find a house sitter that you can trust, you might want to consider purchasing programmable lights for both the outdoor and indoor lights. This way, you can set all of the lights up to mimic the activity that would be in the home if you were truly there. For example, the outside light comes on at night but then turns off during the day. Also, the lights inside of the home will alternate as you use different rooms of the house.

As you can see, there is a lot that you’ll need to start thinking about so you can get all of your ducks in a row before you leave for your exotic vacation. The better you plan out how you are going to be able to protect all of your valuables, the less your risk losing and the less you have to worry. You’ll find it much easier to relax like you are supposed to do when you are on vacation.
