Movember, Time to Grow Your Mustache and a Giveaway!

When Todd from Fearless Dollar asked me to be a part of this giveaway, I agreed because mustaches are hilarious. While I’m not able to grow one myself, thank goodness, I know there are lots of guys out there who aren’t shaving this month, and it’s all for a good cause.

Movember.com was a movement started a decade ago out of a simple idea to promote men’s health issues. It began with prostate cancer awareness and has spread to testicular cancer and mental health. If you think women are bad about discussing health issues, men are a million times worse. How many of you avoid the doctor because you don’t like to turn and cough?

I’ve also seen personally how men with mental illness are not accepted socially or even within their families. Being told to “man up” when mental illness is the cause of your problems doesn’t really do much good.

The good news is that many outcomes of these diseases can be prevented or greatly reduced with the right preventative and ongoing medical care. Hopefully, men, you’ll grow your ‘stache proudly this month and show your support for the men’s health issues supported by Movember

Have you seen how much disposable razors cost? You might not need one this month, but for later, I am co-hosting a giveaway for a $50 gift certificate to the Dollar Shave Club, what a grand idea!

  1. I actually saw a documentary about men ignoring their health issues up until it was detrimental to their health to do so. It’s all about the male illusion out society created to portray men as more manly if they shrug away a scratch or scar, or in movies, even a broken bone or two. It’s just something that will take time to change.

    1. My Dad refused to go the the hospital after he had a stroke! He was at work and they had to threaten to take his keys away so he wouldn’t try to drive home.

  2. I just had my annual physical and my doctor says I have the stats of a 35 year old. Since I am 67 years old, that is pretty good. BTW, I have had my mustache for 40 years!

    1. That would be funny to freak them out. I saw an interview with Ben Affleck about the beard he had to grow for Argo. I guess his wife and kids hated it!
