Globally, KFC is the largest fast-food chain that specializes in chicken-based meals. Serving up tasty chicken menu items such as the Zinger Burger and Original Recipe Chicken Pieces is their main game.

Apart from that, KFC serves sides, including mashed potatoes, peas, corn, and more finger-licking items. KFC wants to hear from you. Were you happy with the quality of the last meal you received? Take part in the free Go Cup KFC survey and let them know.

KFC is all about great food, passionate teams, and extra-ordinary partnerships. This chain doesn’t just serve quality food to the people who can afford but support the community by partnering up with local charities.

Here at KFC, everyone has a good-will to impact the surroundings. Employees aren’t just working to earn but creating a bigger picture of passion, commitment, and dedication. KFC cares about everyone so that every customer can feel like home.

History

The founder, Colonel Harland Sanders, started selling fried chicken in Corbin, Kentucky, during the Great Depression period. He identified that a chicken franchise was severely needed. He brought his idea into life and opened the first KFC in 1952 in Utah.

KFC was getting popular amongst the people. It was challenging the market of hamburgers. As a result, rapid expansions started happening, and in no time, KFC was all over the United States. In 1964, Colonel Harland sold the franchise to John Y. Brown Jr. and Jack C. Massey.

By the mid-1960s, KFC was one of the first American fast-food chains that expanded internationally. KFC was introduced in Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Jamaica. The period between the 1970s and 1980s was rough for KFC. A lot of mishaps were experienced as KFC went through changes in ownership.

The chain continued to spread its territory overseas. In 1987, KFC became the first Western restaurant chain to open in China. Pressure-fried chicken pieces with 11 herbs & spices is KFC’s original product. The idea was serving chicken in cardboard bucket was first introduced by Pete Harman in 1957.

Since the early 1990s, KFC has expanded its menu. Now they serve other chicken products like chicken fillet sandwiches, wraps, and more. Salads, coleslaw, and side-dishes of KFC also have a huge fan-following.

Fun Facts

Today, there are over 44,000 KFC restaurants in 135 countries. The Yum! Brands system that owns KFC opens over six new restaurants per day on average. Yum! Brands own popular chains like KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, etc.

The founder, Harland Sanders, wasn’t a Colonel before his contributions to the state’s cuisine sector. After gaining popularity, Ruby Laffon, the governor of Kentucky, made him an honorary Colonel. That’s why we know him as Colonel Harland Sanders.

Our favorite Double Down mashup sandwich was released on April Fool’s Day, but it turned out to be a great hit. It was sold out by 2 pm on its release day at a KFC in British Columbia. Raise your hands and tell us by commenting if you love the double down mashup sandwich!

First, fried chicken sold by Harland Sanders wasn’t in a KFC location. It was called Sanders Court & Cafe, which was located out of the front of the gas station, which Colonel operated. The original site of KFC in Corbin, KY, still functions as a usual KFC but with a small museum of Harland Sanders.

The secret receipt of 11 herbs and spices by Harland is still out there, and you can purchase it! Although it’s not an original receipt, 99-X is a worthy substitute by Marion-Kay Spices. Bill Summers of Marion-Kay Spices was asked by Colonel to re-create his recipe.

  1. Went to Anitree branch today , service crap attitude of management didn’t want to know about complaint sat in drive through for 10 mins being angnored when I walked in they said it was closed with no signs . While I was there 3 people drove off in anger . Will not be going back and will be putting this on the media as a rubbish place to visit with a bit of luck it shuts in the future as these people need retraining ..

  2. I visited KFC at Ore, Hastings on Tuesday, 15th November and bought special deal of 9 pieces of chicken for £5.99. I asked how long the offer was going on and was told another 2 weeks. Yesterday, 22nd November I phoned the shop at 4pm and was told that the offer was ending that night. At 5pm I drove 4 miles to take up the offer to be told that the offer ended on 15th. Had I been told this on 15th, or when I phoned, I would not have bothered and used a much closer takeaway.————–Not a happy bunny!

  3. Been to our High Street KFC yesterday expecting the high quality chicken pieces but to my disappointment they were a bit dry, salty and not much flavour. We know KFC keeps a strict guideline regarding their recipe. In my opinion, reducing the amount of salt will be a good thing especially people are so health conscience nowadays.

  4. Been to our High Street branch expecting the usual high quality chicken pieces but to my disappointment they were a bit dry, salty and not much of a flavour. We also know KFC have a strict guideline regarding their recipe. In my opinion, the salt content is a little too high especially we are all so health conscience this days. Reducing the amount of salt will be good for all.

  5. I visited your Morecambe branch tonight and there was a total of 3 staff working this was at peak time. The member of staff serving on his own Paul did a fabulous job and worked tirelessly. Some people decided not to wait I waited around 30 mins. I don’t know how your staff are supposed to take a break.
