After ten years of the opening of the first store, the Rite Aid moved to 10 States of US opening 267 more stores.

The company hit the sales milestone of $1 billion in 1983. Along the East Coast, the company acquired 420 stores that actually took Rite Aid to more than 2,000 locations. This was the reason why Rite Aid became the largest chain of Drug stores along the East Coast. Rite Aid also acquired some companies on its way towards success, with the names of Baltimore, Maryland’s Read’s Drug Store Lane Drug and Peoples Drug’s.

It was 1994 when the Rite Aid twenty-four Hook’s Drug Store from Revco. In 1995 the Rite Aid acquired 224-store Perry Drug Chain and in 1996 it acquired a 1,000-store Thrifty PayLess on the West Coast. In the Gulf Coast area, Rite Aid also acquired Harco, Inc. and K&B Inc. It was 1990 when the company partnered with Ellicott Development Co. to put its foot into Upstate New York. The Rite Aid partnered with (GNC) General Nutrition Corporation in the year 1999 and brought all the GNC mini-stores within its pharmacies. It was June 1999 when this drug Store chain went online as it partnered with in order to facilitate its customers even more. Now they just can place online orders of their medical prescription and collect the drugs same day form the stores.

It was the Merger with Eckerd and Brooks in the year 2006 that took this company to the top of all the drugstore chains in the Eastern US and third largest drug retailers all over the US. The Rite Aid started its free shopping reward card known as Wellness+ back in April 2010. In 2015 it became a part of the American Express-backed Plenti Rewards program. In January 2018 Rite Aid came up with wellness+ BonusCash. So now the customers will not be given the Plenti points and in place of that, they would be given BonusCash, which can be redeemed at Rite Aid only.
